How do I withdraw / take out money from my account?

We strongly advise that you discuss your plans to withdraw any money with your financial adviser, so you are fully aware of the consequences of doing so.

For some investments, such as pensions, the decision to withdraw cannot be reversed. You may also incur tax charges that may be higher than you were expecting. During this time of economic uncertainty, it is important to remember that the basic principles of long-term investing remain unchanged, and that short-term falls do not necessarily impact long-term goals. The document ‘Investing Through Volatile Times’ from our investment business, Quilter Investors, takes you through some of the key principles of investing.

How to withdraw

If you hold an ISA or Collective Investment Account in your name (not jointly), you can request a withdrawal of up to £75,000 online through the online Customer Centre.

For us to pay your withdrawal, you need to have a verified bank account. This can either be a bank account that we have previously made a payment to, or the account you use to make your regular payments to us. Alternatively, you can set up and verify a bank account online.

Your withdrawal payment will take up to 10 working days to clear into your bank account. This allows for the time taken to sell down units, receive the cash from the fund manager(s) and send it through to your bank.

For some scenarios, you’ll need to complete a paper withdrawal form rather than completing the request online. For example, if:

  • your account is held jointly
  • you invest on behalf of a company or charity
  • your investment is a Collective Retirement Account or Collective Investment Bond
  • you want to take a withdrawal of over £75,000.

To find and submit a form for the products listed below visit our Prompt online mail processing tool:

  • Collective Investment Account (CIA)
  • Collective investment Bond (CIB)

If you do not receive financial advice, and you have a Collective Retirement Account (CRA) and would like to make a withdrawal or want to change your regular income on your pension, please call us on 0808 171 2626 - option 3 as we need to run through some questions with you, before issuing the appropriate form.
