Could you be more financially savvy this tax year?

Graphic of people planning their investments

March, and spring more generally, is often a time for fresh starts. And now your tax allowances are getting one too. The new tax year begins on 6 April, giving you time to plan how you’ll use all those new allowances to your advantage.

Take your ISA allowance. It can be tempting to leave it until the last minute to use it up. But, if you’re able to pay into it at the beginning of the year, you’re potentially getting a whole extra 12 months of time for your savings to grow.

A review right at the start of the tax year, or just before it, can also help us spot if there are any tax incentives you could use throughout the year.

You might be surprised just how many people don’t do this - and miss out on money that’s rightfully theirs. These tax incentives can be things like increasing your pension contributions or charitable giving to help offset your income tax.

I can also draw up a cashflow model to bring this to life. The model allows us to explore and compare different strategies and scenarios, so you can see the difference it will make to your long-term finances and goals.

If you want to find out more about the savvy financial strategies I could help you with this tax year, feel free to get in touch.

Testimonial 1

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I needed advice that was unique to my current situation. I am due to have a major life changing operation, which I was not expecting .This will require me to have a long period of time off work, with a complete life change afterwards.

How has Owain Blunkett-Evans helped you?

From the first phone call Owain listened to my situation and really took on board what i wanted to do. At that point I was not expecting to be able to get things sorted in time. Owain explained my options and answered all of my questions really clearly and even took the time for me to write down what he was saying. We arranged a meeting, with Owain offering to come to my house as i was struggling with completing the details online. At the meeting Owain gave me all of the positives and negatives involved with what i wanted to do. The meeting achieved everything I was hoping for, with Owain really understanding my situation, and what i needed to do to get things in place

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for? I managed to achieve more than I was hoping for

What could they have done better? Nothing, it was excellent.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Long term investment.

How has Owain Blunkett-Evans helped you?

Owain listened carefully to my requests and the reasons behind them. Owain pointed out the risk elements with suggestion of alternative route to achieve same end goal. I took Owain's advice and all went well.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for? Yes a good timely outcome.

What could they have done better? Nothing, happy with the outcome.

I have worked in the financial services industry for over a decade. I take great pride in working with clients to help them achieve better financial outcomes. I do so by gaining a thorough understanding of what makes them tick and, perhaps most importantly, why. I work with my clients to set realistic and achievable goals, providing an objective soundboard for those big decisions in life.

Outside of work, I'm a keen rugby fan. Like any true Brit, I like to support the underdog - so you'll find me channelling my inner Welsh at internationals! I also enjoy spending time in the great outdoors and often travel the UK on shooting excursions - much to the annoyance of my Fiancé.
